Meteorologist explains why expected August storm missed central Israel

Weather forecasts predicting heavy rainfall and a storm in central Israel during late August failed to materialize as expected. Nachum Malek, chief forecaster at Meteo-Tech, explained to Arutz Sheva that the weather system shifted further north than initially projected, causing its primary impact to be felt in Lebanon and Cyprus rather than central Israel. According to Malek, while some rain fell in the north, the system did not extend southward. Malek noted that because the event was out of season, it generated significant media attention and public concern. He explained that the initial forecasts were based on available models, but as the event approached, signs of the system weakening and shifting north became apparent, though the earlier, more severe predictions had already been widely publicized. Malek emphasized that forecasts are predictions by nature and that their accuracy increases as the time of the event draws closer.
