Jessica Reynolds and Charlotte Rampling to star in opera drama Maya Butterfly

Jessica Reynolds, known for her role in Kneecap, and Oscar-nominated actress Charlotte Rampling are set to star in the Irish psychological drama Maya Butterfly. The production team has described the project as a blend of Tár and Sound of Metal. According to Variety, Wildcard has acquired the distribution rights for the UK and Ireland. Produced by Hail Mary Pictures, the film is set against the backdrop of the opera world. Principal photography is currently underway, with filming locations including the National Opera House in Wexford and the city of Belfast. This project marks the feature directorial debut for Edwina Casey, an award-winning Irish opera director. Variety has not yet released further details regarding the plot or the specific roles of Reynolds and Rampling.
