Iran-US War Reaches Six-Month Mark Amid Ongoing Conflict and Economic Pressure

Six months after the start of U.S. and Israeli military strikes against Iran, the conflict—which President Donald Trump had initially characterized as a 'little excursion' lasting only weeks—remains ongoing. While the President recently posted 'MISSION ACCOMPLISHED 2026' on social media, political observers have drawn parallels to George W. Bush’s premature 'Mission Accomplished' declaration during the Iraq War. Reports indicate the conflict has already cost the U.S. over $37.5 billion and has negatively impacted Trump’s popularity ahead of the critical November midterm elections. Meanwhile, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) reported that since the war began on February 28, at least 70 attacks on international shipping have been verified in the Persian Gulf, resulting in the deaths of 19 seafarers. Additionally, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh signaled that interest rate hikes may be necessary to combat persistent inflation.
