Jason Arday, former Cambridge professor, dies one week after resignation

Jason Arday, the youngest Black professor at the University of Cambridge, died in London on Friday at the age of 41. His death occurred just one week after he resigned from his position following allegations of plagiarism. Deborah Prentice, Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge, expressed deep sadness and offered condolences to Arday's family and friends. The Metropolitan Police stated that officers responded to a report of an unresponsive 41-year-old man at 3:12 p.m. on Friday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police described the death as unexpected but not currently treated as suspicious, and an investigation is ongoing. Arday had resigned on August 5, stating that the relentless accusations and public commentary had taken a profound toll on him and his loved ones. He maintained that his resignation should not be interpreted as an acceptance of the narratives surrounding him.
