Iranian drones target office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Barzani

The Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Service reported that two Hadid-110 explosive-laden drones, launched from the border area with Iran, targeted locations within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on Monday. According to the service, one drone struck the private office of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, while the second hit the residence of the director of the Parastin intelligence agency in the Pirmam district of Erbil. Prime Minister Barzani described the incident on X as a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region, asserting that such attacks would not deter his administration from its duties. There were no reports of casualties or major damage resulting from the strikes. This incident follows a series of cross-border attacks and comes less than a week after the Counter-Terrorism Directorate reported that Coalition forces intercepted three explosive drones over Erbil. Regional authorities have repeatedly warned that these recurring attacks threaten civilian safety and critical energy infrastructure, intensifying calls for enhanced air defense capabilities.
