Itamar Ben-Gvir in verbal clash with resident during visit to Bedouin town of Basmat Tab’un

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir engaged in a verbal confrontation with a resident during a police-accompanied tour of the Bedouin town of Basmat Tab'un in northern Israel on Wednesday. Footage from the incident shows a resident expressing dissatisfaction with the visit, telling the minister, "I am the boss (ba'al habayit) here." Ben-Gvir responded with a play on words in Hebrew, stating, "You are not the boss. Maybe you are a slipper (na'al bayit); that is about it." The minister further mocked the residents, suggesting they cry out for their parents when arrested by police. Later in the visit, the tone shifted during an encounter with a local truck driver who displayed a passage from the Psalms on his vehicle and noted that two of his children serve in the Israeli security forces. Ben-Gvir told the driver, "I love people like you. You should know that the entire reality would be different if everyone were like you."
