US Citizen Recounts Settler Attack Near Ramallah

Samed Khudair, a Palestinian-American citizen, told Al Jazeera that he and his brother were attacked by settlers while traveling from Yatma to Al-Mughayyir, near Ramallah, to attend a memorial service. Khudair stated that settlers blocked their vehicle, assaulted them with stones and clubs, used pepper spray, and one individual held a gun to his head before stealing his US passport. Khudair further alleged that an Israeli soldier later took his passport and spat on it before confiscating it. He reported that their vehicle was destroyed and that the ambulance transporting him to the hospital was also attacked. According to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, there were 628 recorded settler attacks and 1,402 Israeli military operations during the month of August.
