Lancashire, Yorkshire, Durham and Nottinghamshire reach One-Day Cup knockouts

The group stage of the England One-Day Cup has concluded, with Lancashire, Yorkshire, Durham and Nottinghamshire securing the final knockout spots. Group A winners Leicestershire and Group B winners Middlesex had already confirmed their progression. Lancashire secured their quarter-final place with a high-scoring victory over Somerset in Taunton. They posted 443-6, their highest-ever List A total, surpassing the 406-9 they scored against Nottinghamshire in 2019. Keaton Jennings hit 156 from 127 balls, while teenager Rocky Flintoff scored his maiden professional century, finishing with 123 from 76 balls, including 10 fours and seven sixes. Jack Blatherwick added 32 from just 10 balls. Somerset were bowled out for 269 in reply, with Tom Lammonby scoring 68 and Tom Spinwall taking 4-42. Nottinghamshire claimed the third spot in Group A by beating Surrey at the Oval. Despite a strong start from Surrey, featuring a 175-run partnership between Ryan Patel—who reached a century in 91 balls—and Dom Sibley, who scored 84, Nottinghamshire chased down the 299-run target. George Munsey scored 138 from 132 balls, sharing a 109-run stand with captain Haseeb Hameed, while Kyle Verreynne finished 57 not out to seal the win. Dillon Pennington took 4-54. In Group B, Yorkshire finished second after a seven-wicket win over Essex and will host Nottinghamshire in the quarter-finals. Dom Bess and Ben Coad took three wickets each as Essex were bowled out for 151. Despite losing two early wickets, England Under-19 player Will Luxton scored 60 from 59 balls to secure Yorkshire's sixth win in eight matches. Durham qualified in third place in Group B despite a 77-run defeat to defending champions Worcestershire. Worcestershire posted 291, led by Tom Taylor's 86. Ben McKinney scored 82 from 70 balls for Durham, but the side was eventually bowled out for 214. Middlesex secured top spot in Group B and a home semi-final for the first time since 1990 with a 92-run win over Sussex. James Cracknell shared a 202-run partnership with Nathan Fernandes as Middlesex reached 354-8. Sussex were bowled out for 262. Elsewhere, Hampshire failed to reach the knockouts for the fifth consecutive season after an eight-run defeat to Derbyshire, in which Andrew Neal scored his maiden professional century with 110 from 63 balls. The quarter-finals take place on Friday, 14 August: Lancashire host Durham at Old Trafford, and Yorkshire face Nottinghamshire at Clifton Park, York. The semi-finals follow on Sunday, 16 August, with Leicestershire hosting the winner of Yorkshire versus Nottinghamshire, and Middlesex hosting the winner of Lancashire versus Durham at Radlett. Both matches start at 11:00 BST.
