Trump Administration Imposes Strict Restrictions on Luxury Purchases by Iranian Delegation

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Trump administration has imposed new purchasing restrictions on officials of the Iranian regime and their families. According to Channel 14 Israel, these measures include a ban on purchasing luxury goods valued over $1,000—such as watches, perfumes, high-end clothing, and artwork—without special authorization from the U.S. Department of State. Vehicle purchases exceeding $60,000 are also subject to these restrictions. Furthermore, access for regime officials to wholesale retailers like Costco has been blocked without prior approval to prevent the bulk purchase of Western goods. U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, highlighting the economic hardships faced by the Iranian people, stated that Washington will not allow the regime's elites to use their visit to New York for luxury shopping sprees. The U.S. government has also issued a warning to New York retailers against assisting in the circumvention of these restrictions.
