Koh Samui zoo bars Israelis; Israeli fined over threats against owner

Thai authorities have fined an Israeli citizen 5,000 baht for allegedly threatening Jindarat Satiyaphon, the owner of Samui Exotic Park on the island of Koh Samui. Police are continuing to search for another individual suspected of offering a 500,000-baht reward for harming the owner. The tensions began on August 12, when an Israeli family reported being barred from the zoo and alleged that the French owner physically attacked the father. The zoo owners claim the ban on Israelis was implemented due to past misconduct by visitors, including refusal to pay and mistreatment of animals. Simultaneously, Thai authorities are investigating reports of a Palestinian flag and signs perceived as offensive to Israelis being displayed at the park entrance. The Thai Interior Ministry has stated that legal and security protections on Koh Samui will be provided equally to all nationalities.
