Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti sidelined with ACL injury

Rangers have confirmed that Portuguese striker Youssef Chermiti will be sidelined for a 'significant period' after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The 22-year-old was injured during Sunday's 2-1 home defeat by Hibernian. He collided with advertising hoardings following a heavy challenge and was carried off on a stretcher before half-time. In a statement released on social media, Rangers said the forward would be out of action for a 'significant period', though the club provided no further details on his recovery timeline. Chermiti joined Rangers from Everton in September 2025, in a deal reported to be the club's most expensive signing since Tore Andre Flo in 2000. The former Portugal Under-21 international has made 43 appearances for Rangers, starting 30 matches and scoring 15 goals. Prior to the match, Rangers manager Derek McInnes addressed reports of a bid from Turkish champions Galatasaray, telling BBC Scotland: 'As far as I am aware, the club's valuation of the player has not been met.' McInnes added: 'It is no surprise that he is a high-value player with plenty of talent, but thankfully he is our player and will remain so. We are building a squad and trying to add to the good players we already have, including Youssef, so at no point would we have welcomed such an offer.'
