Mason Mount set to miss Manchester United’s pre-season friendly against Leeds

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is expected to miss Wednesday's pre-season friendly against Leeds at Croke Park in Dublin due to a foot injury. Mount had impressed in United's first three pre-season matches, operating as a number eight with new signing Andrey Santos playing in a deeper role. He sustained the foot injury early in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg and was replaced by Tyler Fletcher after 20 minutes. Interim manager Michael Carrington stated the substitution was precautionary. Although the 27-year-old was seen walking without difficulty after the match, BBC Sport reports he has not trained since and is unlikely to feature against Leeds. It remains unclear whether Mount will be fit for United's final pre-season fixture against Ruben Amorim's AC Milan, which takes place in Wroclaw on Saturday. Meanwhile, Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez has been training after joining United's six-day camp in the Republic of Ireland. Martinez has been working on his fitness since sustaining an injury in the first half of the World Cup final. England internationals Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo have also trained this week, though it is uncertain if Carrington will deem them ready to face Leeds. The match will mark the first time two English football clubs have played each other at the historic Croke Park, the home of the Gaelic Athletic Association.
