Milo Yiannopoulos, British far-right commentator, deported from the United States

British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported back to the United Kingdom following his arrest by U.S. immigration authorities, officials confirmed on Saturday. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated that Yiannopoulos was returned to his home country on Friday. He had entered the U.S. legally in May 2019 but was accused of overstaying his visa. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security noted that an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for a scheduled immigration hearing. Yiannopoulos was arrested on Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Louisiana and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Representatives for Yiannopoulos did not respond to requests for comment. Known for his provocative public stances, Yiannopoulos has frequently criticized feminism, Islam, and immigration, and has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
