Yemen government forces report strikes on Houthis in port city of Mocha

Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces announced on Saturday that they had struck Houthi fighters in the Red Sea city of Mocha. The clashes follow recent Houthi advances that saw the group seize control of Yemen's Red Sea coast and cement their hold on the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait. Yemen's state news agency, Saba, reported that government forces destroyed Houthi vehicles and weapons, killing several members of the militia. Conversely, the Houthis claimed that Saudi aircraft conducted 129 airstrikes on their controlled areas over the past 48 hours. Meanwhile, Saudi authorities reported that a Houthi projectile landed near the border, causing two injuries and damaging a mosque and several buildings. The UN migration agency stated that 76,000 people have been displaced since July, a figure that has quadrupled in the last week. Regarding reports from Axios that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman requested US strikes against the Houthis, President Donald Trump acknowledged speaking with the Saudi leader but noted that the Houthis had also contacted his administration, claiming they do not wish to fight the United States.
