Waltz delivers blunt warning to nations defying Iran sanctions, touts Greenland deal

He warned that countries failing to comply with international sanctions against Tehran will face consequences. Highlighting Iran's cratering economy, including currency devaluation and inflation, the ambassador stressed that Washington expects full enforcement of sanctions from its partners. Beyond the Iran file, Waltz addressed the administration's push to reform the United Nations. He noted that the U.S. has secured over $1 billion in budget reductions and cut approximately 3,000 positions at the organization. He clarified that the administration does not intend to abandon the U.N., but rather aims to return the institution to its core mission.

Additionally, Waltz highlighted the new security agreement between the United States, Denmark, and Greenland. He described the deal as strategically significant, aimed at expanding the American military presence in the Arctic and preventing adversaries from establishing bases or making sensitive investments in the region.
