German prosecutors indict seven for alleged Hamas terror plot in Europe

The German federal prosecutor’s office has indicted seven individuals for allegedly securing weapons for Hamas with the intent to launch terror attacks in Germany and Austria. According to the indictment, the suspects planned to target Israeli diplomats, Jewish individuals, and pro-Israel supporters around the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel. The suspects, holding various nationalities including German, Danish, Bulgarian, and Lebanese, were arrested between October 2025 and May 2026. Prosecutors stated that the network had acquired a fully automatic rifle, 13 pistols, and over 700 rounds of ammunition, with some weapons transported to Vienna. Matthew Levitt, a scholar at the Washington Institute, noted in the CTC Sentinel that these operations were overseen by Hamas's military wing in Lebanon. Ron Prosor, Israel’s Ambassador to Germany, warned that Germany has shifted from being a retreat for Hamas to an active terrorist target. The German Interior Ministry stated that Hamas and Hezbollah activities are banned in the country and that security authorities are continuously investigating extremist threats.
