Seventeen-year-old Huang claims London title as Hull falters late

Seventeen-year-old Canadian golfer Anna Huang has claimed her fourth Ladies European Tour title at the PIF London Championship. Playing at Centurion Club near St Albans, Huang finished on 22 under par to win by a two-stroke margin. English golfer Charley Hull, 30, appeared set for her tenth professional title and sixth Ladies European Tour win until the final two holes. Hull suffered a double-bogey on the par-three 17th after a four-putt, surrendering the lead. Although she birdied the final hole to finish her round with a 69, her total score reached 20 under par. Huang secured the win with an eagle on the final hole. Speaking to the Ladies European Tour website, Huang described the final round as the most exciting of her life, noting the unpredictable nature of the sport. She credited her focus during the final three holes and praised the atmosphere created by the crowd while playing alongside Hull. Huang had led since the opening round, where she carded a six-under 67. Hull began the tournament with a 74 on Thursday but surged into contention on Friday with a historic 11-under 62, equalling the lowest round in Ladies European Tour history and setting a new course record. Huang carded an eight-under 65 on Saturday to enter the final round with a three-stroke lead. Hull briefly moved one shot ahead with birdies on the 6th, 9th, 13th, 15th, and 16th holes, but the double-bogey on the 17th returned the advantage to the Canadian. Shannon Tan of Singapore finished third at 17 under par, followed by Thailand's Patty Tavatanakit in fourth at 15 under. Other notable finishes included England's Alice Hewson in sixth at 12 under, Leanne Hall of Wales in seventh at 11 under, and England's Georgia Hall and Ireland's Aisling Dunigan, who tied for eighth at 10 under.
