Iran Responds to New Trump Sanctions: We Are Producing More Destructive Weapons

US President Donald Trump has announced a new economic campaign against Iran, describing it as the toughest economic measure ever taken against any country. In response, Islamic Republic officials have threatened to withdraw from the nuclear agreement and escalate hostilities, while asserting that they will continue to develop their military arsenal. Hossein Mohebi, a commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated: "If a war breaks out, our weapons in all areas will be completely different from the past, in terms of warhead quality, precision, and missile range." He added that Iran is working to produce more precise, destructive, and technologically advanced weapons. This comes as the Iranian economy faces a historic low for the rial. Reports indicate that the new sanctions focus on expanding pressure on countries and institutions that provide financial or commercial channels for Tehran. China, a major importer of Iranian oil, has reacted to the move, with Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stating that sanctions and pressure will not solve the problem, calling instead for a diplomatic resolution. Additionally, the United Arab Emirates had previously announced the suspension of commercial and financial transactions with Iran.
