White House Honors Frontline Heroes at 2026 Interdiction Awards

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) hosted the 2026 United States Interdiction Coordinator (USIC) Awards Ceremony on August 27, 2026, at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. ONDCP Director Sara Carter and U.S. Interdiction Coordinator Victor Avila presided over the event, recognizing twelve teams for their 2025 efforts in dismantling transnational cartels and securing borders. The ceremony highlighted the Trump Administration’s strategy to reduce drug overdose deaths, which Director Carter noted have dropped below 68,000. Coordinator Avila emphasized that tactical successes, such as maritime interceptions and port seizures, provide critical intelligence for dismantling criminal networks. Key 2025 milestones reported include the U.S. Coast Guard seizing over 230,000 kilograms of cocaine and U.S. Customs and Border Protection preventing over 1.2 billion lethal doses of fentanyl from entering the country. Additionally, multi-agency operations dismantled darknet pill presses and shut down 46 clandestine super-labs in Mexico, while seizing 60 million dollars in cryptocurrency proceeds from the Sinaloa Cartel and CJNG.
