Syria reports Israeli drone strike near Damascus

Syrian state media reported on Saturday that an Israeli drone struck a vehicle near the village of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside, wounding one person. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not confirmed the attack. The incident occurs amid heightened regional tensions following a recent Israeli strike on the Abu al-Duhur military airfield in Idlib. Israel stated that the operation was conducted after receiving intelligence regarding Turkey's intentions to deploy forces at the site. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that Israel would not tolerate Turkish military entrenchment in southern Syria. Meanwhile, Tom Barrack, U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy to Syria, suggested in an interview that the recent Israeli strike might have been intended to provoke a Turkish response. Simultaneously, diplomatic tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv have escalated, with Turkey requesting that Interpol issue a Red Notice for Benjamin Netanyahu over allegations of genocide related to the Gaza flotilla affair.
