Stephen Miller Named White House Chief of Staff Amid Immigration Policies

According to CBS News, President Donald Trump has announced that top adviser Stephen Miller, who has driven the administration's most controversial immigration policies, will take over the White House chief of staff role on Monday, replacing Susie Wiles. The staffing shake-up follows Republican losses in the midterm elections and as Democrats plan investigations into the administration's immigration enforcement. Miller was the architect behind policies such as the travel ban on Muslim-majority countries during Trump's first term, the 2018 zero-tolerance policy resulting in family separations, and severe reductions in refugee admissions. In the second term, Miller pushed ICE to dramatically increase daily arrests, championed the wartime Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to bypass due process, and supported third-country deportations.
