Analysis: Lebanon could be the next destination for the Abraham Accords

Tzachi Hanegbi, an Israeli political figure, argued in an analysis for Ynet that Lebanon could be the next breakthrough for the Abraham Accords, citing comments by Jared Kushner on the shifting Middle Eastern landscape. Hanegbi points to several strategic developments, including the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, the election of Joseph Aoun as president of Lebanon, and the significant weakening of Hezbollah, as factors creating a rare diplomatic opening. He urges Israel not to waste this opportunity and to leverage the current focus of the U.S. administration to advance a peace process. Hanegbi highlights the trilateral framework agreement signed in Washington last June between the U.S., Israel, and Lebanon as a foundation for a historic transformation. He notes that unlike other regional conflicts, the dispute between Israel and Lebanon is not burdened by issues such as refugees, competing claims over holy sites, or deep-seated ancestral territorial grievances, making the remaining disputes bridgeable.
