Trump Announces ‘Unprecedented Economic Warfare’ Against Iran

US President Donald Trump announced that Washington has entered a new phase of its campaign against Iran, which he termed 'economic warfare and unprecedented isolation.' Trump stated that Iran failed to seize diplomatic opportunities and emphasized that these measures are designed to cripple Tehran's ability to fund regional activities. He warned that any country or entity assisting Iran in bypassing sanctions would face severe economic consequences. Meanwhile, sources told Al-Arabiya that negotiations with Iran have been suspended due to a lack of progress. Reports indicate that the US administration has received intelligence regarding potential escalation by the Houthis in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and Iranian plans for new military actions. Trump, citing Iran's military status, claimed that the country's military capabilities have been severely degraded. In response, Iranian officials dismissed the remarks as a result of Washington's miscalculations. Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, wrote on X that the US, having failed in the military arena, has now turned to economic warfare. Additionally, Haji-Babai, Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, asserted that the US focus on the Strait of Hormuz demonstrates Tehran's strength and warned that Iran is considering various options, including withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
