Ghalibaf: Hormuz Strait to remain closed until US meets interim deal conditions

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's top negotiator, stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States meets the conditions of the interim deal. In his remarks, he claimed that the original agreement in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was reached by Washington solely out of desperation. Ghalibaf further alleged that the US has suffered a heavy political defeat in this process. These comments come as tensions persist over critical shipping lanes in the Persian Gulf.
