Masoud Pezeshkian: It is better to end the war now

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Friday during a meeting with doctors that now is the right time to end the war with the United States. Asserting that Iran is in a "position of strength and dignity," he claimed that the world recognizes Iran's victory and condemns American strikes on the country's infrastructure. These remarks come as the conflict nears its six-month mark, with diplomatic efforts for a permanent ceasefire currently at a stalemate.

Addressing domestic criticism from conservatives regarding the June memorandum of understanding with the U.S., Pezeshkian insisted that the agreement does not constitute surrender and contains no clauses indicating a retreat by Tehran. However, alongside this message, other officials within the Islamic Republic have maintained a much harsher tone, warning of a "devastating" response to any new American threats.

Simultaneously, the United States has intensified its economic campaign against Iran. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has called on Washington's allies to assist in increasing pressure on the regime, as the administration threatens to impose severe economic sanctions. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has labeled these actions as "economic terrorism" and "crimes against humanity."

Reports indicate that Iranian oil exports to China have dropped significantly, falling from an average of approximately 1.4 million barrels per day in 2025 to about 534,000 barrels per day in August. Tensions over control of the Strait of Hormuz remain a primary point of contention between the two nations.
