Israel’s Attorney General approves Smotrich’s fuel tax cut

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has received authorization from the Attorney General to proceed with a reduction in fuel taxes. This measure, intended to alleviate costs for consumers, will bring the price of gasoline down to 7.75 NIS per liter. There had been prior speculation that the move might be blocked by legal authorities due to concerns regarding potential electioneering. Following the Attorney General's approval, Smotrich is expected to sign off on the policy to bring it into effect.
