Report: Trump administration seeks to refocus US-Iran negotiations on nuclear program

According to a CNN report, officials in the Donald Trump administration have privately informed leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states that they intend to prioritize the Iranian nuclear program in any future negotiations with Tehran. This shift in focus coincides with the postponement of a meeting between Gulf diplomats and Iranian officials, which was intended to discuss an Omani proposal for regular tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia reportedly submitted amendments to the proposal, citing concerns that the current language could establish an unacceptable status quo for the Kingdom and other GCC members. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump praised envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for their work on hostage releases, claiming that fighting in Gaza has subsided and that Hamas is now willing to relinquish its weapons.
