Pentagon report details heavy military costs in conflict with Iran

A new report by the Pentagon inspector general, prepared at the request of the US Congress, has revealed the scale of military costs in the confrontation with Iran. According to the report, direct costs are estimated at $33.4 billion, including $22.3 billion for ammunition, $3.7 billion for equipment replacement, and $7.4 billion in other expenses, excluding facility repairs. The document provides the first official confirmation that Iranian drones and ballistic missiles successfully struck the US Navy's central logistics hub in Bahrain. The US Air Force and Navy have also suffered significant losses, including the destruction or heavy damage of several F-15E, F-35A, and A-10 aircraft, 12 KC-135 tankers, and over 30 MQ-9 drones. While President Donald Trump maintains that the conflict will end by the November midterm elections, reports indicate that senior officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have warned him that the campaign could persist well beyond that timeline.
