Paul Pogba nears Monaco exit

Paul Pogba is close to leaving Monaco as negotiations regarding the early termination of his contract are underway. A source has told BBC Sport that these discussions are expected to be finalised soon, though Monaco has yet to comment on the matter. Pogba joined Monaco in the summer of 2025 on a two-year deal intended to run until the end of next season. He has featured in only six matches since his arrival. His first season at the club was hampered by injury, and it was anticipated he would secure more regular playing time this term. However, the appointment of Filipe Luis as head coach, replacing Sebastien Pocognoli, may have altered Monaco's tactical plans for the midfield. Pogba was initially handed a four-year ban in February 2024 after testing positive for DHEA in August 2023. He maintained that the incident was a mistake, claiming he had ingested a supplement without knowing it contained a banned substance. The Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced his suspension to 18 months in March 2025, allowing him to return to professional football. The 32-year-old, who won the 2018 World Cup with France, signed for Monaco following the conclusion of his ban.
