IDF closes Gaza probe of World Central Kitchen deaths; inquiry into killing of Hind Rajab ongoing

The Israeli military released legal decisions on Wednesday regarding five high-profile incidents during the war in Gaza. These include the April 2024 strike on a World Central Kitchen (WCK) convoy, the January 2024 killing of 6-year-old Hind Rajab and her family, the March 2025 deaths of 15 rescue workers in Rafah, and two incidents involving Doctors Without Borders (MSF) staff. The Military Advocate General closed the WCK probe, ruling that while there were operational failures, the commanders' decisions did not cross a criminal threshold. Conversely, investigations into the deaths of Hind Rajab and the 15 rescue workers in Rafah are continuing under Military Police oversight due to suspected criminal offenses. Regarding the MSF incidents, the military stated that the February 2024 strike on an MSF building occurred because troops did not identify it as an aid facility, though command-level measures may be taken. In the November 2023 incident, the military concluded that the deaths of two MSF convoy passengers were likely caused by fragments from warning shots, and ruled that no criminal offense had been committed.
