Celtic & Rangers Scottish Cup stadium closure upheld

According to BBC Sport on 29 October 2026, Glasgow clubs Celtic and Rangers must play their next Scottish Cup home ties behind closed doors after their appeals to the Scottish FA appellate tribunal were dismissed. The sanction follows disorder during last season's quarter-final at Ibrox, where fans entered the pitch, threw missiles, and caused injuries to police officers, resulting in 43 arrests. Both clubs are also required to pay £100,000 to the visiting team in their respective home ties. Celtic criticised the punishment as "excessive and disproportionate" and argued against being treated identically to Rangers, but the tribunal upheld the decision.
