RFU gives unequivocal backing to Steve Borthwick for World Cup
According to the Guardian, despite pressure on Steve Borthwick following five defeats in the last seven matches, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has reaffirmed its full support for him. RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney stated that Borthwick's contract has been extended until 2028, with the intention of allowing the coaching staff to focus entirely on the World Cup without distractions. Meanwhile, the England squad has received a boost with fly-half Fin Smith returning to training ahead of crucial matches against Australia, Japan, and New Zealand. Defence coach Richard Wigglesworth expressed cautious optimism regarding Smith's availability following his calf injury.
