Russian attack on Bucha region near Kyiv leaves at least 27 dead

Ukrainian officials reported on Saturday that at least 27 people were killed following a Russian attack on the Bucha district near Kyiv. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the local regional military administration, stated that the offensive damaged over 50 residential buildings and triggered a massive fire that spread to homes and a restaurant. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted in a statement that a warehouse in the village of Myla was struck, followed by a detonation. While not providing specific details on the site, he indicated that criminal proceedings have been opened for alleged negligence, emphasizing that regulations prohibit storing ammunition near residential areas. Zelenskyy added that a care home for the elderly and disabled was also damaged, and the evacuation of over 370 people is ongoing. Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi criticized the incident as a repeat of earlier failures, calling it criminal negligence. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed it had struck a warehouse in Myla containing components for long-range drones, as well as logistics centers and storage facilities for Flamingo cruise missiles in the Kyiv region. Separately, Russian attacks on the southern Kherson region resulted in two deaths and 27 injuries, including a child, according to local officials.
