CBS undecided on Tony Romo’s future following DUI arrest

CBS Sports CEO David Berson has confirmed that the network has set no timeline for a decision regarding the return of lead analyst Tony Romo following his arrest for driving under the influence. Speaking at the NFL’s annual media day in New York on Tuesday, Berson stated that Romo’s situation is a personal and legal matter, noting that he could not comment on the specifics of the ongoing case. Regarding the network's position, Berson added that the situation is evolving and remains under review, with no final decision or deadline currently in place. Romo, a former NFL quarterback and CBS’s primary game analyst, was arrested in his home state of Wisconsin last month after being pulled over on an interstate highway. CBS suspended him indefinitely shortly after the incident. The network has since confirmed that JJ Watt, previously the second-ranked analyst, will begin the new season in Romo’s position starting in early September. According to Berson, this remains a temporary scheduling adjustment while the network continues to evaluate Romo’s future.
