No clear winner after tight New Zealand general election

According to the BBC, there was no clear winner following New Zealand's election, as leaders of the two major parties prepare for negotiations to form a coalition government. Preliminary results showed Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's National Party won 42 seats, falling short of a majority, while opposition leader Chris Hipkins' Labour Party secured 36 seats. Hipkins has not conceded, stating the shape of the next government remains uncertain. Given New Zealand's proportional voting system, most governments are coalitions. The Opportunity Party, which entered parliament for the first time, is being viewed as a potential kingmaker. Official results are not expected until 27 November, as special votes are still to be processed.
