Far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos held in ICE custody

Milo Yiannopoulos, a far-right political commentator and vocal advocate for mass deportation, is currently in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to agency records. U.S. officials confirmed that the British national was apprehended in the New Orleans area and is being held at a facility in Louisiana. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that while Yiannopoulos entered the U.S. legally in 2019, he chose to overstay his visa in violation of federal law. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for his scheduled hearing. The DHS confirmed he will remain in custody pending his removal from the country. Yiannopoulos, who has previously used social media to call for aggressive immigration enforcement, including the establishment of ICE checkpoints and immediate deportation for those without legal status, was reportedly in New Orleans ahead of a scheduled performance by the artist known as Ye. The DHS spokesperson noted that detention is a choice and encouraged individuals to utilize official channels for departure.
