Tehran offers to reopen Strait of Hormuz in exchange for reduced US military pressure

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States reduces military pressure and ends the blockade on Iranian ports. The official added that the Iranian delegation to the United Nations in New York has full authority to revive diplomacy with Washington. According to the source, Tehran's proposal was delivered to the U.S. side via mediators on September 16. The official emphasized that the United States must officially announce its desire to resolve issues diplomatically and agree on a timeline for the process. Meanwhile, it was reported that Masoud Pezeshkian, president of the regime ruling Iran, who left Tehran for New York on Tuesday, will not meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the UN headquarters. Earlier on Sunday, Iran's military central command warned against what it described as U.S. preparations to restart military operations with the support of regional countries, threatening that such actions would be met with an unlimited response from Tehran.
