Local police reported that the find, consisting of gold coins and bars, is valued at $10.4 million. An 18-year-old worker named Kobe told local media that the crew initially mistook the pieces for one-euro coins before realizing their true nature. The project leader, Mario, confirmed that they immediately contacted the police once the scale of the discovery became clear. Authorities have since cataloged the items and placed them in a high-security federal government vault. Under Belgian law, the rightful owner has five years to claim the gold. The director of the organization that owns the site expressed hope that the funds could be utilized to support local welfare needs. The workers have expressed interest in receiving a finder's fee for their discovery.
